BMW puts X5 and X6 on steroids

Once again, the Germans are bravely (or insanely, depending on your values) launching high-power, high-performance, fuel-hungry products in the midst of a definite green-aware socio-political environment. Behold the new BMW X5 M and X6 M, the first-ever non-sedan recipients of BMW’s “M” treatment.

Some quick facts:
Engine: Twin-turbo, direct-injection V8
Horsepower: 555hp @ 6000rpm
Torque: 500 lb-ft from 1500 to 5650 rpm
Transmisson: 6-speed M Sports automatic w/steering-wheel paddles
0-60: 4.5s (manufacturer’s claim)
Top speed: 155mph limited (171mph with M Package)

We think the X6 M looks better than the X5 M, which looks like an after-market job with all the extra body add-ons.
