German AC Cobra best version of all time?

Leave it to the Germans to build Zeh Perkeft version of an Anglo-American icon: the original AC Cars of England has collaborated with German constructor Gullwing GmbH to produce this interpretation of the the immortal AC Cobra.

This new concoction features a hybrid-aluminum body shell, a rigid spaceframe chassis, a removable gullwing roof, massive Porsche brakes, and appropriately so, good ol’ American ponies courtesy of Corvette. The ‘base’ GT version will feature a 6.2L, 437hp V8, while the GTS version will have a 647hp version of the same engine. An educated guess says the latter will be a supercharged engine.

As desirable as the original Cobra is, this modern version must be an incredible machine onto its own. If only we could hop in for a spin. Ummm, Santa…..

I'm sorry, but they're missing the point. Yes, it looks great - because it looks the same as the original (if we discount the gullwing-doored hard-top) - but the whole point of a Cobra is that it isn't massively stiff and great handling with massive brakes. The original cars were fitted with seatbelts to prevent the driver from being thrown from the car - while driving, not in the event of a crash! Amen!

Amen indeed Big E! You're right, nothing will replace the savagery of the original.
