A hot, modern Volvo P1800

When was the last time you saw those words next to each other, 'hot' and 'Volvo'? But those are exactly what we thought as we saw the renderings of this modern take on the famed 1960's Volvo P1800.

This beauty was dreamed up by Mattias Vöcks, who also happens to be an engineer at the Swedish supercar company Koenigsegg. Bo Zolland of Swedish design firm Vizualtech created the renderings, but it is reported that the car is already under construction.

While staying true to the general shape of the original, you can see that this retake is replete with high-tech features such as a rear diffuser. Why, you may ask, does this ‘classic’ need a diffuser? Because unlike the 100hp original, the new P1800 will be powered by a 600hp, turbocharged V8 sourced from Volvo’s XC90 SUV! Now THAT is a marriage made in heaven.
