VIDEO: 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo

While you have to have a discerning eye to tell the difference, this is the face-lifted, 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo Cabriolet. The exterior tweaks are only part of the story. With rivals Ferrari, Lamborghini and most interestingly, Nissan of late snapping at its reign atop the world of sensible supercars, the Stuttgart maker has given a  boost to the venerable Turbo's firepower. The former 3.6L engine has given way to a direct-injected 3.8L unit borrowed from from the Carrera S.

Revised twin-turbochargers, an upgraded intercooler and a new fuel system combine to add 20 hp to the Turbo's heart, totaling 500 hp at 6000 rpm. 60 mph arrives at 3.5 seconds (3.6 for the Cabrio), on the way to a top speed of 194 mph. Porsche says that it has made changes to the car's driving characteristics in order to offer "more of a sporting flavor." This is achieved through a newly-tuned Porsche Traction Management system which gives the car's all-wheel drive system more of rear-wheel-drive bias.

Three transmissions will be available: a six-speed manual, a Tiptronic automatic, and a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK replete with shifter paddles mounted behind the steering wheel - a first for 911s. Prices have not yet been announced, but if you have to ask.....
