VIDEO: Noble M600 supercar battles for Britain

In a day and age when most historic English car companies are owned by foreign entities, sports car manufacturer Noble is one of the only companies defending the national industry’s honor. With the launch of the Noble M600, Noble intends to take the fight to the world’s most exclusive supercars.

The most fascinating thing about this car is not that it has mega-horsepower, but that its powerplant is Volvo-based. The engine is a 4.4L V8 boosted by twin Garrett turbochargers and a Motec ECU. The development version of the engine has a power output of 750 hp, but the production versions will likely be limited to a mere 650 hp and 618 lb-ft of torque. The M600 will give drivers the option to switch between 450, 550 and 650 hp.

In the UK, the car is expected to cost a whopping £200,000, approximately $328k. However, that is the price of entry for a carbon fiber bodied machine that 2810 lbs, will reach speeds of 225 mph and achieve the 60 mph mark in 3 seconds.

The rest of the car is decidedly – and refreshingly- old school: the M600 has a regular manual gearbox, no stability control nor anti-lock brakes. Nice and pure, the way supercars are supposed to be.
