Singer creates a 425 hp retro 911

Califronia-based Singer Vehicle Design has re-imagined the air-cooled 911 with the Singer 911. Essentially fusing 40 years of 911 engineering into one special concoction, Singer converts starts with any 1969-89 911 and then proceeds to completely reconstruct the car. The company's own blurb sums it up well:
"The Singer 911 attempts to channel the spirit of the pure and delicate 1964 original, the race-bred chic of the 70's "longhoods", the '80s' bomb-proof solidity, and the power and sophistication of the 964/993 series: a jewel-like form that singularly represents and celebrates the golden air-cooled era of the world's most important sports car."
So, what exactly does Singer do? To start with, the company reinforces the chassis with a new structure that includes a carbon fiber "second skin" for stiffness. The torsion bar suspension is replaced with MacPherson struts and Carrera SC trailing arm setups. Power steering is added to the mix, as is a fully-adjustable suspension setup. Those gorgeous retro wheels cover serious Brembo brakes.
Singer uses carbon fiber shells to achieve a body reminiscent of the beefy 911 RSs, adding subtle touches such as Xenon lamps and an electric rear spoiler. On the inside, you will find a mix of classic 911 styling and modern amenities such as electronically-controlled air conditioning and bluetooth connectivity.
As for the engine, customers can choose between a bored-out, 360 hp, 3.8L 993 unit that revs to 8000 rpm, or a more powerful 425 hp unit. The latter will hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, 100 mph in 8.5 seconds, and continue past 170 mph.
We do not quite know what to make of the Singer 911 and would love to drive one. In the meantime, "intrigue" is probably the most appropriate word.
