VIDEOS: Renault makes green moves, and why you should care

Why should you even care about what Renault is up to? After all, the French company has not made big product waves in a long time and does not even sell cars here in the US.

The answer lies in Japan, and takes the form of Nissan. Nissan is is a big player in our market and will be selling the all-electric Leaf starting next year. As you know, Nissan and Renault form a uniquely successful alliance and share technology back and forth. Further, Renault is building the commoditized cars that Better Place will use on its grandiose mission to make electric cars affordable and practical. The Renault Fluence concept pictured above is actually be the first switchable battery electric car available on the Better Place network.

The upshot is, if you care about green cars, what Renault is working on will eventually find its way into our marketplace. The French car makers were quite innovative once upon a time and as Gavin Green from UK's car believes, they are once again leading the world on technology.

This is all a long-winded context within which to consider Renault's newest website dedicated to 'zero emissions' vehicles (ZE). In the videos below, David Menochet, Renault ZE Product Manager shares some insight into the company's green concepts and technologies as he takes you on a walkaround of four Renault ZE cars.
