Unless you have not watched any TV this year, you must have heard these now-familiar words in one of those Hyundai commercials promising to take back your new Hyundai should you lose your job. That bold initiative, along with other incentives such as a fuel-price guarantee, was part of the innovative and highly effective Hyundai Assurance program undertaken by Hyundai during the depth of this year's automotive sales crisis.

In February 2003, I traveled to South Korea for a week of business development in the Korean auto industry. Appropriately, my first stop was a huge industrial complex outside Seoul, home to a certain Hyundai-Kia.

My local colleagues and I spent most of the day in meeting after meeting, where inquisitive Korean engineers were visibly interested in learning as much as they could about the engine simulation products we were selling them.

VIDEO: Rhys Millen Racing tunes Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Drift racer Rhys Millen, nephew of famed racing driver Steve Millen, has modified the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with parts from his eponymous tuning company. Millen is well-connected to Hyundai, having served as the driver in the Genesis Coupe launch commercials as well as the Red Bull Drift Team's Hyundai Drift Genesis.

It is hard to decide whether all the modifications to the Millen Hyundai are worth the additional cost, considering the fact that raw performance is hardly improved. However, as Edmunds reports, this tuned Hyundai does change the base Genesis's driving characteristics to a perceptible degree.

Hyundai is first to accept cash for clunkers

A few days ago, we told you about yet another incentive Hyundai is offering prospective customers. Today, Hyundai has become the first company to participate in what is officially known as the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS). Essentially, if you trade in your car for a more fuel-efficient car, you will receive a discount toward your purchase.  The dealer will then receive a compensation from the NHTSA.

You must have already seen the Hyundai Assurance ads on TV that promise to take back your Hyundai for up to a year after purchase should you lose your job. Other manufacturers started copying Hyundai, a company that is unrivaled in taking advantage of its local rivals' woes through well-times incentives backing up solid products. Well, Hyundai itself has now copied another car company, namely Chrysler, by introducing the Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock program.

Lexus leads 2009 JD Power Initial Quality Study

Surprise, surprise: Lexus takes the top spot in J.D. Power's 2009 Initial Quality Survey, followed by Porsche, Cadillac, Hyundai and Honda.

That Lexus should be at the top is actually not a surprise. In fact, Toyota's products, in Toyota, Lexus and Scion guises, took 10 segment awards, more than any other company.
